About

Hanna TeräsI am Hanna Teräs, an e-learning developer, English lecturer, researcher and project manager at Tampere University of Applied Sciences in Tampere, Finland. I’ve been working very actively with e-learning since the beginning of the millennium, and as a side product to that I’ve got entangled tighter and tighter in the Net.

I started this blog to share my thoughts about different types of phenomena in this post-information society and their effect on education – or the lack of it. To be honest, I’m worried about education. I’m worried about schools and universities. I’m afraid they might wake up one day without knowing what just hit them – unless us teachers wake up and see we no longer live in the same world as when we went to school.

If this sounds strange, read the blog to find out what exactly I mean. I’d be more than happy to share thoughts with other people who have an opinion about the future of education, so please feel free to comment on anything you find here!

Oh yeah, the name of the blog. It’s from a D.A.D song, and the lyrics go like this:

Sometimes the sky’s so grey
That you cannot see beyond it
And even the wildest of dreams
- Can’t take those lines from your forehead
Yeah! I know there’s a bill
- And it’s gonna make it’s way somehow
With and excuse and a bow; I’ll be paying it now:

I got run over by truth one day
Didn’t see the red light
Since the accident I’ve walked this way
- I only did what felt right…
But from this day on; it’s either: grow or pay

I’m seeing the red light, hoping that other education professionals see it too and we won’t get run over by truth one day. That’s the idea of this blog in a nutshell.
